May Volunteer Spotlight - Chris Howard

"I’m so thankful for this special opportunity to help at Family Promise during the last two months of this pandemic. Although a school librarian, a background in public health education and social work connected me via the Delaware Medical Reserve Corps. It’s been such a blessing to meet and work alongside such a dedicated staff and so many persevering and loving families. I’ve experienced a happy mix of reinforcing recommended health measures with reading to children and sharing experiences with parents, checking for temperatures and symptoms with planting seedlings and picking up lunches, delivering items to alumni and making Mothers day cards with communicating the latest facts about the virus and resources our state has made available.

While my regular job responsibilities have now resumed, I will surely continue to be a Family Promise friend. I’m hoping this essential service to Delaware county stays open and healthy, and look forward to hearing who else is able to step in and help support staff and residents at this remarkable house of love. God is able to do abundantly and exceedingly more than we even think to ask for!

Gwyn, Tonia, Sandy, Stephanie (and Betty and Kris who I did not have the privilege of meeting in person) you each have my utmost respect and affection...and the beautiful families, too, of course!"
