Our Promise to Support: Donating During Urgent Times

Family Promise of Delaware County is dedicated to providing a safe environment for guest families, volunteers and staff. In response to the COVID-19 concern, our National Family Promise has consulted with the Center for Disease Control (CDC) to develop this pandemic prevention plan.

Family Promise remains committed to providing 24/7 care as the emergency shelter of Delaware County. If volunteers, staff or residents are sick or symptomatic, we have encouraged and continue to encourage them to let us know immediately. We want to make sure all mutually involved in our care are not compromised. Shifts need to be safely covered and public health protocols tended.

In alignment with the COVID-10 containment best practice guidelines, all of our volunteer trainings and coordinator meetings will be shifted to phone-in format. See below for additional information regarding more specific events and programs.

Lastly, we are in need of items to keep the Promise House running smoothly over the next few weeks. Please take a look below for a list of these priority items. Additionally, Gift cards for meals and supplies, as well as financial contributions are very, very important right now in order to be remain prepared. Our system is structured that we receive donated meals for all three meals each and every day. There will be instances where volunteer food donors will be unable to fulfill the need for our daily meals.  In these instances, we ask for early notification if possible, and donations of cash, gift cards or other resources from the congregations, community groups and individuals.

"When you are already in a fragile, harmed or grieving state, times like these can create an even deeper wound. We all need the support of Community. The hurting and marginalized among us require special consideration through trauma-sensitive, trauma-informed care. We are a Learning Community and are dedicated to fulfilling this promise for our residents."
